Hi! I’m Alex. I’m a mother, artist, and great-granddaughter of a U.S. Postal worker.

My love of all things analog began in childhood, spending hours flipping through scrapbooks, shoeboxes of family photographs, artifacts from my mother’s childhood (carefully preserved by my grandmother), and, of course, our annual collection of Christmas cards.

After studying photography in college, I spent twelve years photographing weddings, families, and editorial work on Kodak film. I closed my portrait business in 2024, and now I paint a lot.

In 2018 I created my weekly link list newsletter, Handpicked, and I recently started two additional shopping newsletters called Buy Art and Always Cold.

I live in Manhattan Beach, CA with my husband and our four kids, who love snail mail as much as their mom.
